Melissa Osio Martinez, Partner

Melissa Osio Martinez was born in Bryan, Texas, and raised in the Rio Grande Valley. She graduated from Edinburg High School and continued her education at Texas A&M University with a Bachelor's of Arts Degree in Communications and Political Science. Melissa went on to attend Texas Southern University School of Law where she graduated and interned for the First Court of Appeals in Houston. She was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2000 and began her legal career at a private law firm under the guidance of Justice Dori Contreras Garza. Afterwards, she became an Assistant District Attorney for Hidalgo County and prosecuted numerous misdemeanor and felony cases in both county and districts courts throughout her tenure. In 2005, Melissa was admitted to the State Bar of California where she primarily practiced entertainment law. After returning home to the Rio Grande Valley, Melissa worked as In-House Counsel for large insurance corporations for over ten years. Her distinctions included Best Trial Win Percentage and Best Disposition Ratio in the State of Texas, as well as, Best Disposition Ratio in the Nation. After her time as Corporate Defense Counsel, Melissa gained significant experience representing health care individuals and entities in health care liability and medical malpractice claims. Currently, she primarily represents Defendants in construction defect and commercial trucking cases, as well as, wrongful death, premises, auto liability claims, DTPA and other business-related transactional claims. Over the years, Melissa has aggressively defended and resolved hundreds of cases through both negotiated settlements, mediation and trials to jury verdicts.

As for her personal life, Melissa is a married mother of two children. She has faithfully served her community as a leader for many years. Presently, she is a City of McAllen Advisory Board Member, McAllen ISD Lead Committee Member, and serves on the Alumni Advisory Board of Thurgood Marshall School of Law. Prior community service includes leadership in Junior League of McAllen, Beta Sigma Phi - Alpha Epsilon Chapter, as well as, serving on committees benefiting Make-A-Wish, Food Bank and the American Cancer Society. She has also been an active member of various legal organizations throughout her tenure and has earned admission into the Texas Bar College, an honorary society of lawyers committed to excellence in the legal profession.
